Critique Contest: ALL Mediums!

Journal Entry: Wed Feb 8, 2012, 6:17 AM

About

In my opinion, critique is commentary on art or literature aimed at giving direction for improvement, encouraging artistic growth, and promoting education. These three elements are vitally important to any artist, in any medium because they provide a cornerstone for advancement.

On deviantART, we see entire communities dedicated exclusively to giving and receiving critique because artists of all levels understand the benefits of critique. February's Solutions Sanctuary project is focused on critique because many, many people complain that there just is not enough of it on dA. Well, time to put your keyboards where your mouths are, my fellow deviants!

For this contest, I challenge you to give at least one other deviant a critique. You may use the critique feature or leave critiques in comments. You may critique work from a group, from your watchlist, from the critiquables section of dA, or anywhere else you happen to find it. The point is to go forth and critique!

Introduction
Critique, the examination or analysis of a work of art (in our case, a written work of course), can be an enjoyable, educational experience for both the critic and the author.  If that sounds like something a teacher would say to you about a subject that makes you alternately fall asleep or want to throw up, don't despair, because it can actually be a great experience.  You just need some tools to help you.
Technical
The main component to many critiques of beginner's work tends to be technical.  This can be as basic as misspellings and punctuation errors, which can be an easy thing for you to put in your critique in order to give it more substance, but the technical aspect can also take on a wider scope.  Technical critique can examine sentence structure in terms of general readability and how clearly an idea is portrayed, to even the metaphoric and the way imagery was used.

I can't believe I missed this one until now. I love helping out fellow writers and I've just signed up to be a Peer Editor at #Love-Literature so this will be a good opportunity to stretch my critiquing muscles! I have a day free tomorrow so I might just go forth and spend it being insanely helpful (plus, a premium or points would be unbelievably helpful if I were to win!) Thank you for the opportunity. :aww:

One question; do I simply send you one note listing the links to the critiques I have made? :)

Yes, that would work just fine as long as all of the critiques are written between February 1 and February 29 :D
