Complaint Challenge Results! [Phase 1]I received more than double the entries from last year to the Complaint Challenge! There are definite serious business complaints, but what always amazes me are the deviant conversations that spring up. You can even find a couple posts with replies for assistance. This makes me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. :dalove:
Many of you know what Phase 2 is all about, so I expect if you've entered Phase 1, you'll at least try to enter Phase 2. If you can spare the effort to complain, you can spare the effort to do something about your complaint! There will be more on that tomorrow tonight so check back then!

It's a common complaint...

May's contest aims to answer that question. Your challenge is to create a tutorial aimed at deviantART's new members that shows them as much of the site as possible. Think about when you were new - what areas of the site did you discover only after blundering around? What areas did someone else point out to you? What do you wish you had known as a new member that seems like common knowledge now?

But before the group, it was just a fledgling idea on `LiliWrites's account that began with a DD Suggestion Contest. The results of that contest were overwhelming. It's National Novel Writing Month again! It's a great time to share your NaNo experiences, whether it's you're first time or you're a 10 year veteran. Do you usually participate? If you haven't browsed Literature lately, it's a mess. Sure, some of it comes from people whose work truly transcends genres (ever read the Library of Congress classification for Gravity's Rainbow?) and some of it comes from how people choose to interpret certain genres (godsdamnit, 'dark' is not the same as 'horror'! No, this gallery hasn't existed in ~6 years. Stop judging me).
But a lot of it comes from people having trouble navigating the galleries.
Based on your feedback and more backroom discussion, we've reupdated things! Please keep in mind that a lot of discussion went into the updates, so when you do get mad about them do it with the assumption that there's a reason behind this ;p

What is epilepsy though?
Epilepsy is defined as a medical condition that produces seizures affecting a variety of mental and physical functions. Normal brain function is made possible by millions of tiny electrical charges passing between nerve cells in the brain and to all parts of the body. When someone has epilepsy, this normal pattern may be interrupted by intermittent bursts of electrical energy that are much more intense than usual.

It is easy to point out the flaws....


Cliques, lack of communication, bad art that gets too many views, good art that doesn't get enough views, crappy DDs, and on and on and on. The complaints people have about deviantART could fill a book the length of the Bible, but November is a month for remembering what we have to be thankful for and so I challenge you, Solutions Seekers, to take a look around and find at least three things about deviantART that make you thankful for the community.

The Challenge


Create a deviation or journal that explores at least three reasons you're thankful for deviantART. It can be anything from tutorials and other resources to friends you've made to great art you've stumbled across to a favorite group. Whatever it is that keeps you coming back, I want to know about it.

Each deviant that enters the challenge will receive 25 points. The top three deviations/journals will be chosen by `LiliWrites to be featured in the group's journal and those deviants will each be invited to participate in an interview conducted by `LiliWrites. The top three deviations will be put into a public poll and whichever is voted best will win an additional 175 points, totaling 200 points for the top winner!
